LlamaLAN 26 - Thank You and Next Steps

Post by CyberDrac »

THANK YOU LLAMAS!

A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up and paid and allowed us to hit the necessary number of signups for the event to go ahead, you really had us worried for a while there. Thank you for everyone who bribed, cajoled and persuade friends to join you for this weekend of fun and games. It is wonderful to see so many new face and we hope that this will be the first of many visits to LlamaLAN in the future.

So now we know the event is confirmed we can look at the how to fill our time over the weekend, and with that in mind 'der Management are moving our focus into the 'Big Games' in the style of the earlier events, simply running up a server for a popular game and spending a couple of hours just having fun!

We are going to attempt FIVE Big Games, one for the Friday evening, three for the Saturday, and one to wrap up the event on the Sunday. We have a good few ideas, however we would appreciate any suggestions for games that are likely to be able to involve the whole, or at least a large proportion of the LAN, in a couple of hours of fun!

A competitive element will still be there with the tradition 16 way 1v1 double elimination tournament drawing four gladiators from each of the four teams on the Saturday evening. This time we will be taking advantage of a unique offer from our very own YaZoR which will bring an old skool buzz back to the event after the success of the last 'retro' 1v1.

We are continuing with our quest for Community Led Tournament ideas, please contact any member of the Admin Team if you have an idea that you think will work for the upcoming event. As long as you can put together a feasible plan showing us that you know how many participants you can work with, what resources you need (in particular the time required) and the intended rules and scoring, then you could be our next peoples' champion! We are looking to make a necessary chunk of time available on the most prestigious day, the Saturday for this Community Led Tournament and we look forward to hearing your ideas.

There are still four seats empty that would make a lovely 32 attendees, but once unlocked we can try for the final 8 to take us to the final 40. We appreciate that the trickle feeding of seats has caused a few to have to re-consider their seating arrangements, but I'm sure you'll agree that it is doing wonders for team balance.

So once more, Thank You, for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing new and old faces alike in mere weeks.

'der Management
